Learn how to get the best out of Zive's universal search.

Updated over a week ago

We've built Zive to work as similar as possible to the search engines you're already using in your daily life, like Google or Bing. Your search experience starts by entering a search phrase or by asking a question. Zive will automatically interpret your search and deliver highly personalized search results tailored to you.

What can be found in Zive?

Zive comes with a broad range of data connectors that pull relevant information from your company's business apps. These typically include tools like:

  • MS Outlook

  • MS Teams

  • MS SharePoint

  • MS OneDrive

  • Google Drive

  • Google Mail

  • Confluence

  • Haiilo

  • and many others ...

However, the actual data connected to Zive depends on your company's settings, which in turn depends on your company's data sensitivity and how your admins have configured the platform.

You can see the data sources that are connected to your Zive platform by starting a search on the "Everything" tab and then clicking on the "Filter" button. This will show you a menu with all connected data sources.

Search types

Keyword search

A keyword search is the default type of search where you enter one or more keywords to search for. Zive will show you a list of results that include these or related keywords, sorted by your personal relevance.

Example search query: "travel policy"

Semantic search

A major advancement in the Zive search is the possibility to find results that don't have a one-to-one keyword match but instead are related on a contextual level. Zive automatically interprets your search phrase and gives you results that match the wider context of what you've search for. For example, you may search for "travel policy" and find results about "flight restrictions". Semantic search works best when your search term includes a distinctive context.

Example search query: "travel policy for flights to Canada"

Question answering

In addition to the above, Zive's AI-based search assistant also gives you direct answers based on your company's knowledge. Simply type in a question and see Zive work its magic.

Example search query: "How do I book a flight to Canada?"

Filtering

In addition to your search term, Zive allows you to set additional filters to break down your search results.

Intelligent filters

In Zive you can use your own words to filter your results to make your search more precise. Simply tell Zive what you want to filter for as in the following example:

Example search query: "milestones by Ben"

The above search will automatically filter the results by things that were created or modified by your colleague "Ben".

Currently, Zive supports the following intelligent in-line filters:

  • Filter by author (e.g. "by Ben")

  • Filter by time (e.g. "from last week")

Manual filters

Of course, Zive also supports manual filters. Simply click the Filter button next to the search bar (on mobile you will see a filter icon instead).

Sorting

Zive offers the following sorting options:

  • Zive Relevance: Show the most relevant results based on your user profile and preferences.

  • Relevance: Show the most relevant results based on content only (ignoring your personal user profile).

  • Date: Show the latest results on top.

You will find the sorting button next to the search bar (on mobile you will see an icon instead).

Personalization

One of the major strengths and innovations of Zive is its high degree of personalization. Zive uses a company-wide knowledge graph in the background to connect and relate content from the different parts of your business. When you search Zive uses this information to present search results that are highly relevant to you and the job and department you're in.
