Leverage integrations in the Zive Chat

Understand how you can use the Zive Assistant to perform actions in integrated systems.

Updated this week

You can interact with integrated systems via the Zive Chat, which allows you to:

  • Target specific systems for internal research

  • Retrieve specific information from integrated systems

  • Perform actions in integrated systems

  • ...

Simply type "@" in the chat input to see the available integrations and use them.

Note: The available systems depend on which integrations your Admins established for the platform.

Types of integrations

The displayed integrations are separated in two different categories, depending on their type and how you can work with them:

Data integrations (search in...)

Use case: Define in which systems an internal research should be performed.

All integrations displayed under the label "Search in..." are data integrations. Meaning the selected content from these systems is synched and indexed into the company knowledge on your Zive platform.

The option is only available when "Company" is selected as the search setting for this chat. Via mentioning you can then define in which system the Zive Chat should search for internal information. This makes sense when you have a clear idea or preference where the internal context is stored.

API integrations (work with...)

Use case: Retrieve specific information or perform actions in relevant systems.

All integrations displayed under the label "Work with..." are API integrations. While the content from the systems is not part of the company knowledge that is permanently retrievable via Zive, you can perform actions in these systems on chat level. Here are some examples:

  • Email (Outlook, Gmail): Sending emails, searching messages, ...

  • Calendar (Outlook, Google): Create events, check availability, manage meetings

  • Chat (Slack, Teams): Post messages, search conversations, ...

  • Project management (Jira, Linear): Create issues/tickets, update status, ...

  • ...

Note: Which actions are available for each integration depend on the configuration by your Admins.

Using API integrations

Trigger integrations

Even though it's not necessarily required for all actions to explicitly activate them by typing "@", we highly recommend to do so whenever you want to work specifically with an integrated system. There are two reasons for that:

  1. Understand what's possible: When typing "@" the chat always displays the available integrations, and by that shows you what's possible.

  2. Guide the AI: Mentioning the system supports the model to make the right decision and target the system and action you are expecting.

Tips:

  • Always type "@" when you want to use integrations in a chat.

  • Adjusting the Search Nudges ("Company" and/or "Web") can impact which integrations are available.

Connect your account

When using an API integration for the first time or after some time, you will be asked connect your account. After clicking on connect a pop-up will open, asking you for the required connection.

Run actions

Actions can either run automatically or might require a confirmation from you. This also depends on the admin configuration. When actions don't run automatically you get an overview of the action the Zive Chat would like to perform.

You then have the option to adjust the action via "Edit" and to perform the action when you are ready by clicking on "Run".

Benefiting from API integrations

There is a variety of use cases, depending on your organization and the systems you work with. Still here are some of the most common use cases we see in the Zive Chat.
